On Windows, LetMeAtIt tells Youtube-DL to check for updates every three days. On other platforms, automatic updating of youtube-dl does not happen. This is because it is usually installed in places that need root access or equivalent to write to and LetMeAtIt shouldn't be trying to make system level changes.

FAQs

1 - Selecting an 'audio only' quality will only download the audio of a video, 'video only' will download video and audio. Audio only qualities are not supported by the automatic quality selection settings and will never be selected.

2 - As mentioned in Help->Documentation->What Sites Are Supported, some sites that youtube-dl claims to support may no longer work because the site being downloaded from has changed since support was added for it. It's unfortunate if that is the case, but there's nothing I can do about it. I don't make or contribute to the youtube-dl app, I just integrate and provide it.

3 - Due to the various video and audio formats used on streaming sites, the output file from a YTDL job may not be an MP4 but something like WEBM or MKV. These may not play in your media player without extra plugins, codecs and/or configuration.

4 - Saved logins can be deleted using File->Clear Persisted Data. This will also delete any data the youtube-dl app has cached on its own, like youtube video signature data.
